Real World Tests for Hydrogen Powered Buses and Other Vehicles

Two hydrogen-fuelled shuttle buses as well as nine airport-related passenger and utility vehicles will be tested in real conditions. Other applications for the use of hydrogen in auxiliary or stationary power are further key components of this project.

Air Liquide will provide hydrogen using a unique fueling technology to fill multiple vehicles at the same time, and will supply portable hydrogen tanks for many of these applications.

Air Liquide initiated and leads this €8.5 million project which brings together public and private partners. The project is funded by Air Liquide as well as the federal and provincial governments in Canada. Moreover, some 14 private business partners will contribute to this project.

As the planet is faced with a dual environment and energy challenge, access to sustainable mobility is a strategic issue. Hydrogen, used as an energy carrier, is one of the solutions to meet these challenges in the short-term. For the last 40 years, Air Liquide has been developing a unique know-how in the hydrogen field. As the world leader, the Group has an obligation to introduce scientific and technological innovation in our society and to prepare the development of hydrogen on the transportation market by 2015.

Air Liquide participates in large-scale international demonstration projects which push technology forward and promote understanding of this new energy vector among a wide public audience.
