General Manager Michiel Graswinckel said, "We're very proud of Brian, who passed the necessary coursework and testing necessary to earn this qualification at NFRC headquarters in Maryland this year. We have heard from many customers that NFRC simulation is a beneficial service we can offer and already Brian has helped a number of customers develop NFRC testing programs for their products."
Component Modeling Approach & Approved Calculation Entity
In addition to becoming a Certified Simulator, Amberg is scheduled to complete NFRC's Component Modeling Approach (CMA) Product Certification Program, which enables whole product energy performance ratings for commercial (non-residential) projects. In CMA, performance data from the three primary components that make up a fenestration product are used for obtaining an overall product performance rating, those components being Glazing, Frame, and Spacer.
After additional testing, Amberg will also become a registered ACE, or Approved Calculation Entity. According to NFRC 708-2009, "U-factor, SHGC and VT ratings shall be obtained from an Approved Calculation Entity, which has been approved by NFRC in accordance with the requirements Draft of NFRC 708-2009 [E0A0] page iii of the Calculation Entity Approval Program (CEAP)."
The combined qualifications of Certified Simulator, CMA Administrator, and ACE, will allow Amberg and Stork TCT to offer energy-related rating and certification testing to both the residential and commercial fenestration industries.
