Terralta supplies and installs a range of renewable energy products from Apricus Solar. The Apricus solar collector is designed to convert 60 to 70 percent of solar energy into useable heat. It is an evacuated tube solar collector that tracks sun light passively throughout the day.
The Apricus solar collector incorporates copper heat pipes for transferring heat quickly. It is designed to provide a maximum operating pressure up to 8 bar or 116 psi. This evacuated tube solar collector has silver brazed copper header designed to resist corrosion. The copper header is surrounded by a thick glass wool insulation. Its frame is made of 439 grade stainless steel and is available in silver or black aluminum casing. As this solar thermal collector tracks sun light passively, it has a stable solar conversion. The rubber seals and rings are made of HTV grade silicone rubber.
The operation of the Apricus solar collector has three stages, namely, solar absorption, solar heat transfer, and solar energy storage. Evacuated tubes absorb solar radiation and convert it into heat. Heat pipes do the heating within the solar tube up to the copper header. Then water is circulated through the copper header. Whenever the water is circulated through the copper header, the temperature is raised from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, and the water stored in the storage tank is heated gradually.
