Kenworth Truck Company Expands Product Line with Cummins Westport Natural Gas Engines

Cummins Westport announced that with the introduction of its ISL G natural gas engine for Kenworth W9000S and T800 short hood models, the truck company is set to expand its product line. Cummins Westport is a leading manufacturer of high-performance, alternate fuel engines. The natural gas vehicles are ready for order and are aimed at pickup and delivery, municipal, and vocational applications.

Gary Moore, Kenworth Assistant General Manager for Marketing and Sales, said that both ISL G Kenworth T800 short hood and W900S models have excellent efficiency, torque and horsepower combined with low-emission solution. He further added that the company’s range of green products include T800 liquefied natural gas vehicles that are fitted with Westport GX engine, aerodynamic trucks, and medium duty diesel-electric hybrids. The company continues to be the leader in North America in the truck industry, he added. Recognizing the environmentally friendly vehicles supplied by the company, Environmental Protection Agency granted Kenworth Clean Air Excellence award in 2009.

Roe East, President of Cummins Westport, said that the addition of CWI engines to several Kenworth models establishes Cummins Westport’s position in the market as the leading provider of natural gas engines. He further said that now Kenworth offers its customers trucks for a wide range of applications with low emissions and powered by natural gas.
