Schreiner ProTech Launches Self-Adhesive Pressure Compensation Seal for Solar Module Junction Boxes

An innovative, self-adhesive Pressure Compensation Seal (PCS) designed for solar module junction boxes was introduced by Schreiner ProTech. This rugged, self-adhesive PCS protects the junction boxes against severe environmental conditions thus preventing sensitive electrical components from being damaged.

A new splash-proof membrane developed by Schreiner ProTech prevents the entry of dust, oil and water into the housing of the junction box and provides permanent weather resistance. If condensation that is formed in the PV modules enters the junction box, the output power will decrease besides corroding the electrical contacts raising safety issues. The water-repellent membrane from the company is perfectly suited for solar power systems applications. Because the module junction boxes are ventilated through the membrane, damage due to condensation is reduced within the housing.

PCS from Schreiner ProTech adheres to IP 67 standards and meets the requirements of the solar industry such as technical performance, safety, quality and cost reduction. In addition, the PCS can be incorporated into automated process through customization, thus lowering the production costs through leaner manufacturing processes. KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik GmbH has selected the Schreiner ProTech’s PCS for incorporating into its PV modules’ junction boxes.
