Susitna Energy Systems supplies XL.1 wind turbines manufactured by Bergey. The XL.1 is a 24 volt wind turbine that consists of three upwind blades. The rotor of this wind turbine has a diameter of 2.5 meters. The XL.1 wind turbine incorporates features such as electric brake, timed battery equalization, polarity checker, 30-ampere solar regulator, watt meter display mode, 60 ampere dump load, low-end boost and slow-mode options. XL.1 Wind Turbine
The XL.1 wind turbine generates the rated power of 1,000 watts at a speed of 11 meters per second. It can produce a maximum power of 1,300 watts at the maximum wind speed of 54 meters per second. This turbine incorporates a permanent magnet alternator and a direct drive mechanism. The autofurl option provides over speed protection to the wind turbine. The XL.1 turbine has a start-up wind speed of 3 meters per second with a cut-in wind speed of 2.5 meters per second.
