By just clicking a button, the Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid vehicles can reach high electric-only speed of 85 mph, higher than other plug-in hybrids. The new five-seater Ford C-MAX Energi can easily keep pace with traffic even when the gasoline engine is off and the EV-mode button is engaged. The fully charged Ford C-MAX Energi battery is graded at 195 horsepower.

NREL Adds New Patents to Natcore’s License to Create “Black Silicon” Solar Cells

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) included more patents to the license of Natcore Technology according to which, Natcore will produce and market an assortment of black silicon products. Black silicon is the discernible color on the surface of the silicon wafer subsequent to it being etched with nano-scale pores. The black color is due to the absence of reflection from the porous wafer surface.

Hexabus Power Outlets for Energy Savings in Homes

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Communication Systems ESK in Munich in partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute of Industrial Mathematics ITWM in Kaiserslautern and industrial partner embedded brains, have successfully connected power outlets at homes wirelessly using the IPv6 protocol.
