PDM3700 for Real-Time Respirable Dust Monitoring

This personal dust monitor is a real-time, portable respirable dust monitor that alerts mine workers to dangerous amounts of dust exposure.

A respirable, personal dust monitor created exclusively for mining applications in the United States allows users to monitor coal dust exposure in real time. The Thermo Scientific PDM3700 Personal Dust Monitor has waterproof battery protection, PC-based software for data downloading and reporting, and an integrated charger with a download and station for PC interface.

This technology is the only CPDM that meets the most recent MSHA Dust Rule criteria.

  • Industry-standard sampling inlet
  • Integral charger with download station for PC interface
  • Ergonomic and lightweight
  • Waterproof battery protection
  • PC-based software for data downloading, review of status flags, and MSHA reporting

Reduce Exposure to Dust

The PDM3700 monitor is designed to provide fast, high-quality personal dust exposure information while also protecting miners' health by measuring shift-average respirable coal dust exposure when it approaches regulatory limits. The PDM3700 real-time dust monitor, which provides mine workers and management with tools for personal coal dust monitoring and exposure reduction, is the first line of defense in preventing long-term health impacts.

Real-Time Measurement

The PDM3700 monitor measures three major parameters in real time: primary current mass concentration, primary cumulative mass concentration, and percent of limit. Two secondary user-initiated measurements are also provided, which can be carried out without interfering with the original sample.

The battery-operated PDM3700 begins by obtaining a continuous sample of air from the breathing zone. It then eliminates any particles greater than respirable size and determines the mass of the dust, which is collected on an exchangeable filter.

Lower Per-Sample Cost

Dust exposure results are calculated automatically, avoiding the requirement for filter transportation and handling procedures associated with the manual gravimetric approach. This automated technology costs substantially less per sample than human sampling and provides continuous information availability.

Designed for the Mine Environment

The PDM3700 personal dust monitor, which has been proven underground due to the success of the PDM3600 monitor, also provides accurate, continuous information on personal respirable dust exposure. The sturdy, belt-mounted casing, consisting of static dissipating housing, is capable of meeting the demands of the normal mining environment.
