U.S. Fraunhofer researchers are now studying materials that can keep solar cells safe from environmental influence in order to meet that objective.

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid UPM researchers have obtained a patent for gypsum boards that can store thermal energy, which will bring down up to 40% of a building’s energy consumption. The boards along with strategies like natural airing and sunlight can bring down energy consumption, especially in Spain where nearly 80% of the energy is imported.

Based on the latest calculations of Andrea Pozzer, Max Planck scientist, heavy air pollution resulting in unhealthy and difficult breathing can become true for most of the world population in 2050 in case no action is taken. Especially North India, China and the Middle East may be impacted by a significant decrease in air quality.

Ameresco Canada, a renewable energy and energy management solution provider, has been selected as a construction partner by Lakeview Solar Farm and its affiliate, Mariposa Solar Farm, for a 44-MW Ontario solar feed-in-tariff (FIT) project portfolio to be proposed for re-application under the FIT 2 regime.
Walmart has been aiming at using renewable energy as its source of power and the San Diego-located College Avenue store has been revealed as the 100th California Walmart Store using rooftop solar power for power generation. This investment of Walmart in solar power results in 48 contract positions at an average per site.

Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego and Southern California Gas (SoCalGas) have signed a contract targeting the design of a novel system in which CO2 emissions are consumed by algae from natural gas combustion and they are economically converted into valuable byproducts such as biodiesel, biomethane and animal feed.
