SOLARCON India 2010 to Achieve 20,000 MW by 2022

SOLARCON India 2010, India’s biggest solar energy event, has commenced at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), on 28th -30th of July.

This solar event organized by SEMI India, the leading trade body of Indian photovoltaic and solar industry was inaugurated by Dr Farooq Abdullah; Honorable Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy India, and K. Rosaiah, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, officiated over the event. The investiture was attended by central and state ministers and other leading solar industrialists. The key note address for the event was delivered by Dr Winfried Hoffmann, President of the European Photovoltaic Industry Association. SEMI released the first solar industry directory of India during the occasion.

The meeting started with a focused theme of ‘Achieving 1000 MW of solar power generation capacity by 2012 and reaching 20,000 MW by 2022.’ More than 60 world wide renowned, and known, industry experts along with their Indian counter parts are expected to make presentations over the prevailing trends, expected opportunities and the prominent challenges that are anticipated in the growth of Indian solar sector. The deliberations and displays are expected to highlight the current manufacturing technology, market for the productions, various levels of applications and required changes in financial and policy sectors and others. The names of the eminent speakers who are expected to share their knowledge during the meet include Dr Bharat Bhargava, MNRE, Govt. of India, Dr Hans Ebinger, Oerlikon Solar, Mr. Frank Tinnefeld, Dr Madhusudan Atre, Applied Materials India, Ravi Raina, Astonfiled Renewables, Dr. Richard Corkish, University of New South Wales, Dr. Simone Arizzi, DuPont PV Solutions and Mr. Frank Tinnefeld, Gebruder Schmid.

Stanley Myers, who leads SEMI as its President and CEO, explained how the recently launched Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission will allow an array of opportunities for manufacturers, business entrepreneurs, power plant developers and technologists.
