Staples Joins with SunEdison in Installing the Biggest Solar Energy Plant in Maryland

Staples, an office products company, has joined with SunEdison towards installing the largest solar energy plant located in Maryland. The latest addition towards the Staples national program has made Staples to become the largest solar host in Maryland state. SunEdison is a globally leading provider of solar energy services. Currently, Staples hosts over 2.5 MW of solar energy in Maryland.

The Hagerstown ground-installation has in excess of 11,000 solar panels while generating 2 million kWh of solar energy annually. Over the coming 20 years, this would amount to over 37 million kWh of energy. In terms of the environmental attributes, this solar plant will be offsetting in excess of 74 million pounds in CO2 emissions.

This solar system demonstrates the ongoing dedication of Staples towards sustainable business. The Staples/SunEdison solar program has been made possible through PPAs (power purchase agreements) between Staples and SunEdison.
