As World Oceans Day Approaches On June 8th, Canada Celebrates World Oceans Week

June 8th is World Oceans Day; around the world we celebrate and honour our oceans, taking action to protect our vital oceans and marine life. Oceans generate 80% of the oxygen we breathe.

The theme this year is Youth, the Next Wave for Change. World Oceans Day Canada (WODC) urges you to conserve water, reduce emissions, protect our waterways and keep all our shorelines clean.

WODC encourages community leaders, teachers, youth leaders and members of existing NGO's to work together to plan an annual event in their community next year. Local Media and community billboards will facilitate this by posting public service announcements (PSA) free.

Together we can make a difference, now and for the future. For more information visit www.WorldOceansDay.ca
