Intersolar North America 2014: Eaton Highlights Critical Solutions

Power management company Eaton will showcase a broad range of critical solutions at Intersolar North America 2014, from July 8-10, in booth #8321, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Eaton’s solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage electrical balance of system (BOS) solutions are making cost-effective, safe and reliable solar generation a reality for utility and commercial customers. Eaton is also in contention to win the annual Intersolar North America AWARD for its work on the Hyder II Solar Power Plant in Arizona.

“Eaton’s innovative solutions and technical expertise are helping maximize the potential of renewable energy production and minimize grid disturbances, ” said John Vernacchia, global segment manager for renewable energy at Eaton. “Our extensive equipment portfolio is supported by a global network of engineers, who bring extensive skills and expertise to help customers sustainably energize a world that demands more.”

The annual Intersolar North America AWARD program recognizes solar projects demonstrating the latest in innovative system technologies and design. Eaton was named a finalist for helping maximize harvest, reduce operating costs and minimize downtime at the 14-megawatt Hyder II Solar Power Plant operated by Arizona Public Service Company, which generates enough solar energy to power more than 3,500 residences.

Eaton Product Manager Kleber Facchini will provide an overview of the project in a presentation titled “Power of Eaton helps Maximize Sustainable Energy Harvest in Arizona,” on Tuesday, July 8 at 1:00 p.m. The presentation will be followed by the official Intersolar AWARD ceremony at 3:00 p.m., on the Innovation and Application stage.

At the conference, Eaton will also showcase electrical BOS solutions for solar applications, including:

  • The Eaton Power Xpert® Solar 1670-kilowatt (kW) inverter, which enables a skid-less inverter station design to reduce equipment requirements and installation costs.
  • The Eaton Power Xpert® energy storage grid-tied inverter, designed to increase electrical resiliency in utility-scale applications, and work seamlessly with a wide variety of battery chemistries to store and transmit power when needed.
  • Eaton Crouse-Hinds® High Amperage Combiner Boxes, which are engineered, tested, and third party certified for use in photovoltaic (PV) systems designed with T-junction cable harnesses to reduce installation labor, material costs, and system maintenance.
  • A complete range of reliable solar circuit protection solutions, from fuses and circuit breakers to power distribution blocks and surge protective devices (SPDs), designed to help customers in commercial, utility and residential solar segments reduce installation costs, maintain reliable operations, help enhance safety and maximize energy harvest.
