Rice’s Chuck McConnell to Speak on Science, Space and Technology at American Security Project Conference

Chuck McConnell, executive director of Rice University’s Energy and Environment Initiative, will testify before the House of Representatives committee on Science, Space and Technology at 10 a.m. EDT July 30.

At the congressional hearing, titled “EPA’s Carbon Plan: Failure by Design,” McConnell and other panelists will discuss regulatory policies and associated technologies that can be practically applied to power plants and the impact on electric energy reliability and affordability in the USA. The committee is chaired by Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas.

Later in the day, McConnell will speak at an American Security Project conference exploring how the United States can enhance European energy security. Zygimantas Pavilionis, Lithuanian ambassador to the United States, and other current and former government officials will address the audience
