New Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel Engine Helps Minimize Environmental Impact

The new Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel engine is being billed as the perfect combination of air and fuel.

A perfect storm, if you will.

Similar to how a hurricane combines wind and water to reach an unmatched level of potency, the variable swirl technology found in the 2014 Cruze Diesel mixes together the perfect blend of air and fuel.

"Variable swirl helps put the 'clean' in Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel," said Mike Siegrist, 2.0L turbo diesel assistant chief engineer.  "It increases the mixture-motion of air and fuel in low-speed, low-load driving, like when you're doing the commuter crawl to work every day."

At the eye of the Cruze Diesel hurricane is an EPA estimated 46 mpg highway and a range of more than 700 miles per tank. This engine has a better mpg and range than any non-hybrid or gasoline-powered passenger vehicle in America.

"Ultimately, it means more driving satisfaction with less environmental impact," said Siegrist.

With unmatched tenacity, the Cruze Diesel is breezing past the competition in clean technology.
