Amtech Systems Receives New Solar Orders

Amtech Systems, Inc., a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the manufacture of solar cells, semiconductors, and silicon wafers, today announced that its solar subsidiary, Tempress Systems, Inc., has received $8.5 million in new solar orders for its diffusion processing systems. The solar orders consist of a sizeable follow-on order from an existing customer and initial orders from two new customers, all based in Asia.

“We are very pleased to receive the sizeable follow-on solar order and to expand our solar customer base in the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific region,” said J.S. Whang, President and Chief Executive Officer of Amtech. “We believe these orders further demonstrate the increasing acceptance we are seeing for our solar products from our worldwide base of solar customers and prospects. In addition, we will soon launch our new solar PECVD product and begin testing solar wafers with a major customer. While receipt of orders in any given period can be lumpy, as is typical within the capital equipment markets, and we have experienced this in the current quarter, overall industry growth trends remain strong. Thus, consistent with our Q208 earnings release, we continue to anticipate revenue in the range of $71.0 to $75.0 million in fiscal 2008 and are optimistic about the strength of our marketing pipeline and opportunities to grow our solar business in fiscal 2009.”
