Renewable Fuels Association Happy With Obama Support for American Ethanol

Bob Dinneen, President and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), issued the following comment in response to recent statements by the White House and a letter sent to Senator Grassley from the U.S. Secretary of State & the U.S. Trade Representative reiterating the Administration’s position that there will be no change in the import surcharge on foreign ethanol.

“Ethanol producers around the country are very pleased by the Obama Administration’s rapid action to clarify its continuing support and strong belief in the American ethanol industry. It is only through a solid and unwavering commitment to our domestic renewable industry that this country can increase our independence from foreign energy sources, while improving our economy and creating green jobs.

“Perhaps most important in these trying economic times, is that the Obama Administration clearly understands that this tariff exists as a protection for American taxpayers from having to subsidize foreign sugar and ethanol production.”
