Alaskan Wind Industries’ Proven 15kW Wind Power System - a Boon to High Wind Locations

Alaskan Wind Industries offers Proven 15kW wind power system. The wind system incorporates three blades made of glass-thermoplastic composite and a downwind type self-regulating rotor. The diameter of the rotor measures 29.5 ft. The wind power system functions using a direct drive brushless generator with a permanent magnet. The battery charging of the system is rated as 48 V DC.

Proven 15 kW Wind Power System

This 15 kW wind power system is a grid connect type system and uses a windy boy inverter of 230 Vac 50 Hz or 240 Vac 60 Hz. This model uses a direct heating of 240 V AC and the rated RPM of this model is 150. The head weight of this wind turbine is 2425 lbs, and the system has a tilt-up mast that is tapered and self-supporting with no guy wires. Optional guy supported taller towers are also available. The hub height of this model is measured between 49.2 and 82 ft. Depending on the size the turbine of this model requires a foundation of either 12.1 x 12.1 x 3.9 ft or 16.4 x 16.4 x 6.6 ft. The winch of this system requires a foundation measuring 4.9 x 4.9 x 3.9 ft. The model is available with tower heights of 3258.4 ft or 6159.7 ft. The estimated noise of this model at 11.1 and  44.7 mph wind speed is rated at 48 dBA and 65 dBA, respectively.

The Proven 15 kW wind power system is incorporates mechanical brakes for ease of operation. The annual output of its wind turbine is rated as 15,000–30,000 kWh. The special design of the wind energy system makes the wind blades bend to reduce the wind power in response to high rpm thus protecting the unit during high wind velocity and helping it produce power without interruption.
