Delegations from the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, the U.S. President and mayors participated in Rio + C40: Megacity Mayors Taking Action on Climate Change. This event aimed at highlighting the climatic actions taken by C40 Cities in order to reduce their emission of greenhouse gases by over a billion tones by the year 2030. Cities aim at reducing their greenhouse gases by 248 Mt by the year 2020.

The residents of Seattle will be banned on using plastic bags starting from July 1 and will be charged tax as five cents on paper bags at all retail stores. The plastic bag has been banned as a result of the vote in the City of Seattle for regulation of plastic bags during late December.

"Mobile's Green Manifesto", a 2009 landmark report has been updated by the GSMA. This report has outlined the encouraging impacts of the operator in the carbon and energy management areas. 34 mobile networks were analyzed worldwide and it was showed that inspite of significant growth in mobile traffic and connections, there is a very slight increase in network energy consumption from 2009 to 2012.

As part of this campaign, customers are requested to first get themselves registered to vote for environmentally-minded candidates and secondly they are allowed to learn about the environmental records of candidates standing for the election and then vote for the particular kind of world they would like to live in.

Most people are aware that solar power is out there and available, and the sun is still around, so why aren't more people investing in it? There are a number of problems that stop most of the population dead in their tracks when heading for a solar energy route, the first being cost. Cost of these units can be expensive, but right now the government is giving out more money than ever for going "green". Some programs cover over 50% of the cost.
