WindPower Innovations announced that the contract to purchase XH Industries has been successfully completed without contingencies and with immediate closing date. With the successful of acquisition of the company, WindPower now owns XH Industries’ fully equipped operating facilities in Washington and California. The company was purchased through restricted common stock and some cash that has to be paid next year.

Environmental Protection Agency Awards $70,000 Grant to AccuStrata to Advance Thin-Film Solar Production Control System

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $70,000 to AccuStrata Inc., through phase-one Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant for the advancement its thin-film solar panel manufacturing control system. The company, which is Technology Advancement Program incubator of Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, develops real-time optical control systems that improve the efficiency as well as the manufacturing yield of the thin-film solar panels.

Sinovel Wind Group Places 5 MW Wind Turbine Electrical Control Systems Order with American Superconductor Corporation

Sinovel Wind Group Co., Ltd., the largest wind turbine manufacturer in China, has placed an order for full electrical control systems for wind turbines with American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC). This initial order will be utilized by Sinovel for its first 5-MW doubly fed induction wind turbines. The electrical control systems are expected to be delivered by the second half of 2010.
