Surface Treatment of Quantum Dots Boosts Organic Solar Cell Efficiency

A German team of scientists has developed a technique to treat nanoparticle surfaces. This treatment boosts the efficiency of organic solar cells. Presented in the journal Applied Physics Letters, the work shows how 2% efficiency was obtained by using so-called quantum dots made up of cadmium selenide.

WMECo Identifies Site for First Solar Energy Facility

Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo) announced that it has selected a site on Silver Lake Boulevard to install its first large-scale solar energy facility. The company had planned to develop several solar energy facilities. Pittsfield Economic Development Authority (PEDA) and WMECo own the combined two parcels of land at the William Stanley Business Park. Up to 1.8 MW capacity of solar facility can be installed in the eight-acre site.

Proposal to Construct Waste-to-Energy Facility Submitted by InfoSpi to Ma'ale Adumim Economic Development Company in Israel

A proposal to develop and operate a waste-to-energy plant in the Adumim Industrial Park was submitted by InfoSpi to Ma'ale Adumim Economic Development Company. The proposed facility will have the capacity to process about 1,500 tons of garbage per day. Garbage generated in the Jerusalem city will be collected and utilized for the plant to produce about 60 MW of power, which will be purchased by a local electric power.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Makes Capital Contribution to Wind Farm Project Company in Texas

Shenyang Power Group, a subsidiary of A-Power Energy Generation Systems, has accomplished the formation of a project company for the purpose of developing a wind farm with a capacity of 600 MW in Texas. A $36.625 million initial cash contribution was made SPG for the project. The Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has given approval to go ahead with the project.
