Solar Electric System Installed by Standard Solar at the Loudoun County Homeless Services Center

Electricity is now being generated at the recently constructed Loudoun County Homeless Services Center with the help of a 9.5-kilowatt array of solar panels. These solar panels were installed by Standard Solar. The world’s first MicroCSP Solar Thermal Plant was inaugurated on 10 December, 2009 by Sopogy. The inauguration took place at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii. This thermal energy project that spreads across 3.8 acres in the Kona desert is titled: “Holaniku at Keahole Point”. This title is derived from a Hawaiian term that refers to a location that is self-sufficient in all aspects.
