Georgia Power Commences Construction on New Solar Projects at Georgia Army Bases

Georgia Power this week started construction on new solar projects at Georgia Army bases Fort Gordon near Augusta and Fort Stewart near Savannah. Geothermal Power Plants Can Provide both Flexible and Base-Load Power Needed in the Future

Geothermal power plants, that now service over 3 million American households, can provide both flexible and base-load power that will be needed in the future, according to a new report published today by the Geothermal Energy Association. “While baseload power has its advantages and benefits, the future electricity grid, dominated by variable energy resource (primarily wind and solar), will have particularly important values for technologies that can be flexible,” states Ben Matek, GEA’s Industry Analyst and Research Projects Manager and author of the report.

T2 Maxsys Fuel System: New Industrial Energy Solution from Maxsys

Maxsys is pleased to introduce the new T2 Maxsys Fuel System, a new smaller energy saving system designed for industrial burners up to 250 m3 (8,827 ft3) of gas per hour. Like its larger counterpart the T1, which has been successfully employed on a variety of energy intensive applications on much larger burners, the new unit guarantees annual savings in fuel consumption of 5%, with a corresponding reduction in CO2, VOC, almost eliminate CO. Most users report higher savings, in the range of 6%-9%.

Ceremony Marks Latest 7MW Expansion of Dalton Solar Plant

Leaders from Georgia Power, Southern Wholesale Energy, United Renewable Energy LLC and Dalton Utilities gathered this past week for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the latest expansion of the Dalton Solar Plant in Dalton, Ga. With more than seven megawatts (MW) of new generation capacity, this expansion adds to the approximately 700 kilowatts from two previous phases, which came online in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
