SPI Solar Subsidiary to Develop 80MW of Solar Projects in China

SPI Solar (“SPI”), a vertically-integrated photovoltaic solar developer, today announced that its newly established and wholly owned subsidiary, SPI Solar Power Engineering (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (Suzhou Xinwei), entered into two engineering, procurement and construction (“EPC”) agreements for an aggregate of 80 megawatts (“MW”) of solar projects in China.

Dominion Announces Acquisition of 50MW Solar Energy Project in Utah

Dominion has acquired Pavant Solar, a 50-megawatt solar energy project, from juwi solar (JSI), a global renewable energy provider with U.S. operations based in Boulder, Colo. Pavant Solar, located in Millard County, is Dominion's first solar development in Utah and is expected to enter service in the second half of 2015.

Researchers Develop New Climate Change Modeling Tool

A new climate change modeling tool developed by scientists at Indiana University, Princeton University and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration finds that carbon dioxide removal from the atmosphere owing to greater plant growth from rising CO2 levels will be partially offset by changes in the activity of soil microbes that derive their energy from plant root growth.

Installation of 9.3MW of SunPower Solar Power Systems at 21 District Schools

Today at Olympian High School, Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) and SunPower Corp. are celebrating the installation of 9.3 megawatts of high efficiency SunPower solar power systems at 21 district schools. The district estimates that the systems may offset about 60 percent of its utility grid demand.

Abengoa to Construct 20MW Hydroelectric Power Plant in Peru

Abengoa, the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, is to construct a 20 MW hydroelectric power plant in the Mamacocha River in Arequipa (Peru) for the owner, Hidroelectrica Laguna Azul. The project will require an investment of more than 50 million dollars. Abengoa will not maintain any ownership interest in the assets it constructs.
