Launch of NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 Mission Scheduled for July 1

The launch of NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 mission (OCO-2) at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1. Liftoff from Space Launch Complex 2 aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket is targeted for 5:56 a.m. EDT (2:56 a.m. PDT) at the opening of a 30-second launch window.

UPM Signs Sales Agreement with NEOT for UPM BioVerno Renewable Diesel

UPM has signed a sales agreement for UPM BioVerno renewable diesel, produced in UPM's Lappeenranta Biorefinery, with NEOT (North European Oil Trade). NEOT specialises in oil and biofuels wholesale. Large Finnish service stations, ABC, St1 and Shell, get their fuels from NEOT.

US Researchers Perform Environmental Lifecycle Assessment of 2MW Wind Turbines for Large Wind Farm in the US Pacific

US researchers have carried out an environmental lifecycle assessment of 2-megawatt wind turbines mooted for a large wind farm in the US Pacific Northwest. Writing in the International Journal of Sustainable Manufacturing, they conclude that in terms of cumulative energy payback, or the time to produce the amount of energy required of production and installation, a wind turbine with a working life of 20 years will offer a net benefit within five to eight months of being brought online.
