AeroCraft offers the AC 1002 wind turbine. This direct drive wind turbine runs quietly and performs well. The AC 1002 wind turbine incorporates 16 poles permanent magnet type of generator with an output of 1000 W and a voltage of 230 V. This generator uses a stainless steel shaft.
The front shaft of the generator is completely shielded by a water tight seal to prevent water seepage. The generator is encased completely to withstand adverse weather conditions. The small sized wind turbine is mostly used in remote locations to charge batteries for running telecom networks are power residential homes.
This wind turbine also can be used in combination with photovoltaic elements in solar power production. The rugged design of the AC 1002 wind turbine makes it ideal for use in inland as well as coastal locations. This wind turbine incorporates fewer numbers of moving parts to allow easy maintenance and servicing. The AC 1002 incorporates a 2400 W immersion type of electrical heating element for the purpose of heating water and the power supply for the element is received directly from the generator. The rotor of the AC 1002 wind turbine offered by AeroCraft incorporates three blades made of glass fiber reinforced plastic and each blade measures 240 cm. The blades offer a swept area of 4.5 m2. The azimuth control of this wind turbine is managed by wind vane and the turbine incorporates dual ball bearings at the azimuth. The power transmission is carried out utilizing slip rings.
The cut in speed of the wind turbine is 3 m/s, and the wind turbine produces a nominal power output at 9 m/s wind speed and 600 rpm. This wind turbine can withstand wind speeds up to 40 m/s and utilizes eclipse control method for protection against high velocity winds.
