SunGuard Single Module Controller from Morningstar Corporation

Morningstar Corporation offers the SunGuard single module controller. This low-cost single module controller is small in size and incorporates all the advanced applications normally available in higher versions. This economically priced module uses similar charging circuit and the components available in other sun saver controller modules.

The SunGuard single module controller utilizes a solid state design and is suitable for use with series arrangement of solar cells. This module performs hot switch from one duty cycle to another and obtains 0–100% PWM duty cycle percentage value.

The SunGuard single module 12 PWM charge controller offered by the MornigStar is 4.5 A out door rated and installed in an epoxy encapsulated, impact resistance ABS plastic case. The single module controller has inbuilt temperature compensation and incorporates 1500 W transorbs for lightening protection. The dimensions of this module are 2.5 in. x 2.0 in. x 1.5 in. and weighs 3 oz. The system voltage of this module is 12 V, its max solar voltage is 30 V and max regulation voltage is 14.1 V. This module consumes 6 mA during the function and operates in temperatures ranging from -40 to +85 ºC.

The SunGuard can manage up to 25% overloads efficiently without the problem of derating. This module uses hypalon connecting wires and is suitable for outdoor use.
