The TETF (Texas Emerging Technology Fund) will award a grant worth $8.4 million to NIRE (National Institute for Renewable Energy), a non-profit, private/public collaboration and the Texas Tech University. This grant facilitates both these entities in resolving key issues in science and technology, facing the wind energy industry.
NIRE was formed with the support of Innovate Texas Foundation and Texas Tech University with focus on developing technology in the wind industry while addressing the country’s future energy needs through specialized research initiatives in renewable energy research along with wind energy generating farms. This means that Texas, as a state, can cater to its people’s growing energy needs.
The state funds will be used by Texas Tech University towards developing various technologies, reducing wind energy costs and other renewable energies while simultaneously optimizing energy storage technologies.
