GDF SUEZ was joined by dignitaries and residents of Bathurst, New Brunswick for celebrating the grand inauguration of the Caribou Wind Park on July 28, 2010.
Government officials, business executives and community leaders participated in the grand opening ceremony of the province’s largest wind farm at New Brunswick.
This project will facilitate the Canadian Government in encouraging clean energy innovation while creating high-quality jobs as well. Renewable energy sources play a key role in the energy approach of the Canadian Government. Additionally, it ensures an excellent source of sustainable energy for Atlantic Canadians.
Formed with an overall $200-million investment, the Caribou Wind Park contains 33 wind turbines that are capable of generating 99 MW of electrical energy, sufficient for powering around 19,000 households every day. Under a power purchase agreement spanning for 20 years with the New Brunswick Power Distribution and Customer Service Corporation, this wind farm supplies clean and renewable electricity for businesses as well as homes throughout the province. GDF SUEZ Energy North America takes care of the management of 23 renewable energy plants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
