Shell Unveils CENTERA Catalyst for Clean Energy Refineries

Shell Global Solutions has introduced the CENTERA catalyst for helping refiners in the Asia Pacific region to improve their operational performance and for meeting product specifications in order to save costs while producing cleaner fuels. This will result in achieving a savings of $30 million annually.

CENTERA is a third-generation catalyst portfolio that can be utilized for producing ultra low sulphur diesel. Shell Global Solutions offers an integrated range of clean fuels licensed services, catalysts and technologies for helping Chinese refiners to meet the demands of a clean energy future. Catalysts such as CENTERA play a crucial role in helping refineries to boost their product yields while reducing contaminant proportions including aromatics, nitrogen, sulphur and other metals.

CENTERA catalyst technology has been deployed successfully in refineries across Europe, Russia, South America and North America. The NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) has predicted that China’s energy demand during the next decade is likely to increase by 45%, paving the way for building cleaner energy systems.
