Rentech, Inc. has chosen the technology of UOP LLC, a company of Honeywell, for use in its Rialto Renewable Energy Center meant for biomass conversion to transportation fuels. This renewable energy center is likely to be constructed in Rialto, California.
This renewable energy center will be converting biomass such as tree and yard trimmings into renewable electricity and diesel fuel. This new facility will be using the UOP hydroprocessing technology for producing clean-fuel products from hydrocarbons.
This renewable energy center is anticipated to produce approximately 640 barrels of liquid fuel every day along with 35 MW of electricity, sufficient for powering approximately 30,000 homes per day.
