SANYO and Panasonic Join Together to Provide Solar Power to St. Thomas International Plowing Match Venue

SANYO Canada Inc and Panasonic Canada Inc have joined together to provide the required solar equipment for supplying power to the location of the 2010 International Plowing Match in St. Thomas Ontario between 21st to 25th September.

The provided solar power system comprises 3 kW SANYO HIT Power solar modules installed over the ground as well as over the provisional roof structure of the event and 27.8 kW Panasonic lead acid batteries to store the produced power and supply it to the venue when required. The whole system is set up by Tiltran Services Inc and will provide the required electric power to the venue of the sport. The other companies involved in bringing the project to reality include the local companies St. Thomas Energy Services Inc and Presstran Industries. The organizers of the match have also made arrangements for a variety of events such as equipment demos, music concerts, races, information meetings, cooking programs and talent contests in addition to the plowing match.

The event marks the first project collaboration between the two companies in Canada. The parent companies of Panasonic Corporation and SANYO Electric Co have already entered into a deal of merger last year wherein Panasonic purchased the controlling stocks in SANYO and Panasonic has declared its intentions to acquire the remaining stock of SANYO to convert it as its fully owned subsidiary. Koshi Terakawa, SANYO Canada’s President has expressed his happiness to work along with Panasonic in the project. He expressed his optimism to carry on the effects created by the joint working for the project to offer energy solutions for high level performance in the Canadian energy market.
