Polenghi Launches Europe’s First Biobased Bottle

Polenghi LAS has developed and launched the first biobased bottle in Europe by making use of the novel Ingeo blend formulation.

This biobased bottle is extrusion-blow-molded and has been manufactured with the help of NatureWorks LLC, the producer of Ingeo bioplastic that is made from  renewable plant materials.

By switching from the polyolefin resin into Ingeo bioplastic towards packaging 10 million units of bottles of the bio-organic type of lemon juices, Polenghi will be conserving 1,000 oil barrels while reducing CO2 emissions to the extent of 126 tons.

Polenghi’s achievement goes on to demonstrate a low environmental impact, commercial introduction of a bioplastic substitute for the polyolefin resins in the extrusion-blow-molded applications. Bioplastic offers stable pricing in comparison to the volatile petroleum market. The manufacture of Ingeo bioplastic emits less CO2 while consuming lesser energy in the process as well
