First Solar Signs Agreements for Additional 380 MW Solar Orders from Europe

First Solar has signed agreements towards a 380 MW increase in solar orders for 2011 with about seven key customers over the previously announced volumes. Contract expansions have been made with only existing customers for predominantly serving the European markets.

The company’s customers are anticipating robust growth for the solar electricity market next year in Europe. These additional volumes will be allowing First Solar in continuing to scale as well as contribute towards making solar electricity globally more affordable.

In the recent weeks, all these new contracts were signed amidst announcements of First Solar planning to add its manufacturing capacity in France and Germany towards meeting the local demand as well as in encouraging the solar market development for solar electricity on the utility-scale. First Solar produces solar modules enabled with the advanced semiconductor technology while providing comprehensive PV (photovoltaic) system solutions as well.
