The cost savings from the solar photovoltaic system will be used for the veterans’ patient care. The solar system will include ground mounted, as well as, roof mounted solar module arrays. Solar modules ranging from 35-100 kW will be installed on seven facilities in the campus, for the rooftop solar system, while the ground mounted system is expected to be about 550 kW.

The designing of the solar project will be undertaken immediately, while the construction will start at the beginning of 2011. The project is estimated to be completed in 10 months. The new solar photovoltaic system will help the Veterans Administration Medical Center to be compliant with the Executive Order 13423, and the EPAct of 2005.
