United Solar Certified Green Business Designation for its Eco-Friendly Efforts

United Solar, a fully owned auxiliary of Energy Conversion Devices, and a producer of light-weight, lithe thin-film solar modules, declared that it has obtained the Certified Green Business title. It received the award for  incorporating recycling practices at its Greenville, Michigan and Auburn Hills production facilities.

The company incorporated the necessary certification necessities stipulated by the Institute for Green Business Certification (IGBC) to accomplish the title. The institute recognized the commitment shown by the company towards the upkeep of the environment and the welfare of the people it serves. The company fulfilled some of the prerequisites, such as leadership and assurance in recycling of the products, saving water and energy, reduction of wastes and usage of chemicals, preventing pollution, appropriate handling of pollution causing products, resorting to ecological affable purchases and satisfying the requirements of EPA and OSHA regulations.

Mark Morelli, Energy Conversion Devices’s President and CEO, said that the company is engaged in researching, formulating and producing ecological friendly solar energy products to reduce the dependence on fossil fuel all over the world. He added that the company is equally concerned about introducing the required best practices to preserve and use the resources of the earth efficiently.
