Heritage Park to be Illuminated by Carmanah EG300 LED Series

Parque Caneguin, one of Mexico City’s largest urban parks, exhibits a number of important architectural and art deco examples from the 1920s. The park’s historical distinction by the City and community provided a unique set of challenges when pathway lighting improvements were explored.

In combination with illuminating the park’s various historical attractions and classic architecture, increased after-hours lighting would provide tourists and the community with an increased sense of security and would lengthen the number of hours the park could be used each day. According to a representative for the City, the aesthetic form factor of the EG300-series would blend into the overall look and feel of the central city’s green space as well as provide an installation that would preserve the integrity of the heritage site. Being powered entirely by the integrated solar panel, the solar LED outdoor lighting systems eliminate the need to run cables through the park and can be installed faster than the traditional grid-based streetlights.

EG340 Solar lighting systems were recommended by a local lighting agent, Industrial Rocava. The Director of Rocava, Roberto Carrilo, disclosed that they felt that the Carmanah EG300 Series was the ideal solution for the challenging lighting problems faced by the park. He also mentioned that after taking a look at the aesthetic design, the track record and reputation of Carmanah along with strong light output, the clients had agreed to its usage in the heritage site. Its Dark Sky friendly Beta LED fixtures, which reduce pollution and sky glow were perfect for the pathway, park and for the roadways. At day time it would represent the community and the City’s joint commitment to infrastructure that it is eco-friendly.

Ted Lattimore, the CEO of Carmanah, mentioned that the demand for solar LED lighting for outdoors has grown of late, mainly because of the focus on sustainable lighting solutions. Its capacity to fulfill specific light output needs and also aesthetically merge with the environment is one of its advantages. These systems are also available now for the non-North American markets.
