SolarCity Acquires groSolar’s Residential Installation Division

SolarCity has announced its acquisition of the largest residential solar installation division of groSolar, the largest on the East coast.

CEO of SolarCity, Lyndon Rive stated that by early March, solar energy will be available to businesses and homeowners at affordable costs in the new service areas, initially serving those located in a 100-mile radius of Raynham, Billerica, Albany and Jessup. Right from the beginning, customers will pay less and save more as SolarLease will be available to them with no upfront cost.

groSolar will focus on large commercial solar projects while SolarCity will focus on expanding its solar lease “SolarLease” into New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. With this expansion, SolarCity will have the biggest geographic footprint of any residential solar installer in the United States with 21 offices across 10 states.
