VIASPACE and General Biofuels to Form Partnership to Produce Biofuel from Giant King Grass Plantation

VIASPACE and its auxiliary VIASPACE Green Energy declared that VIASPACE and General Biofuels have contracted a Memorandum of Understanding, which is anticipated to mature into an exclusive accord to develop Giant King Grass Plantation over a larger area and to build a biomass pellet manufacturing factory in the Dominican Republic.

The factory will produce 250,000 to 400,000 tons biomass pellets per annum. Both the companies were holding discussion on the project for the past nine months. They have talked over the project with  potential clients in Europe in February and one among them has used Giant King Grass.

General Biofuels with its headquarters in California will perform the functions of a lead developer and operator and will be engaged in providing services such as buying of land for the project, arrange for finance and equity funding, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts and credit improvement. VIASPACE on its part will offer material sourcing, and will manage the nursery of Giant King Grass and its cultivation.

Giant King Grass has been established as a high energy producing and low carbon generating fuel for use in the power plants producing electric power. It is also considered as a good raw material for the manufacture of liquid biofuels such as butanol, green gasoline, and cellulosic ethanol and clean biomethane.
