SolarCraft Powers the Headquarters of M.A. Silva Corks with Solar Power

SolarCraft, a Novato and Sonoma-based company, declared that it has finished the formulation and erection of a 103.4 kW solar photovoltaic system for the USA headquarters of M.A. Silva Corks in Santa Rosa, Ca.

SolarCraft has installed three separate rooftop solar systems designed to generate a total of 103 kW solar power to supply electricity to the warehouse, manufacturing facility and offices of the company. The combined solar system occupies around 8,475 square feet of rooftop area and utilizes 376 SunTech 275 W solar panels to generate power. The rooftop system insulates the building as well as providing t shade. The solar modules were installed over ProSolar supplied tilt type of racking system to position the panels suitably to face the sun and generate maximum energy. The building utilizes proper insulation to reduce the use of electricity for cooling and heating purposes.

The SunTech solar PV panels utilized in the installation generates power directly from the sunlight. The panels will generate around 151,762 kWh of electric power every year to meet 100% power requirement of the company. The power generated from the installation is enough to power around 45 average homes every day, and will offset over 80 tons of greenhouse gas emissions every year. The energy generated from the installation can be equated to saving the fossil fuel used for driving over 5.4 million miles during the 30 year lifetime of the solar installation.
