JinkoSolar, a China- based solar products manufacturing company, declared that it has become a member of the PV CYCLE's European association, which encourages the voluntary take-back of utilized solar modules for recycling purposes.
By becoming a member of the PV CYCLE JinkoSolar will join the select band of over 70 companies that are taking efforts to form an International network of solar module collection points by the year 2015.
PV CYCLE is currently in the process of establishing collection points all over European countries where the module owners and solar installers can dispose off the used redundant solar modules. The modules that have reached their life cycle will be divided into thin-film and crystalline modules and further sorted out by their product number and manufacturer at the PV CYCLE recycling center and weighed before segregating the main components for recycling.
Solar PV modules comprise materials of value, which can be re-used directly on new solar PV modules or other products. The recovered materials such as aluminum, glass and a range of semiconductor materials contain reusable value. The cost of the PV CYCLE program will be managed by the member companies.
