Yingli Green Energy Americas Joins GRID Alternatives to Provide Solar Modules to Low Income Families

Yingli Green Energy Holding (Yingli Green Energy), a vertically integrated solar PV producing company, declared that its US auxiliary company, Yingli Green Energy Americas, has entered into a strategic alliance with GRID Alternatives, a not for profit solar installing company.

GRID Alternatives is engaged in gifting low strata communities with solar equipment, and provides related services and training. As per the terms of the contracted accord, Yingli Americas will make the biggest donation to GRID Alternatives and will assume the role of the official solar module provider for the organization.

Yingli Americas and GRID Alternatives will work along with a combination of green job trainees and community volunteers network to supply and install 1 MW worth of solar systems to 400 low-income group families in 2011. They will utilize a mix of modules received as donation and modules supplied by Yingli at market price during the installation.

The systems when completely installed will produce around $10 million worth of renewable energy during their lifetime and offset around 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The partnership also will offer practical training to thousands of people by involving them during the installations.
