Galaxy Resources Receives Award from Sustainability Energy Association of Australia

Sustainability Energy Association of Australia has honored Galaxy Resources and Swan Energy with the Energy Generation and Distribution Award.

The award given in recognition of sustainable energy efforts and innovation of the two companies was presented in a ceremony held at Perth, WA.

Galaxy Resources has recently completed a renewable energy installation at the Mt Cattlin lithium mine and a processing plant located close to Ravensthorpe in Western Australia with 14 bigger sized solar trackers and 2 wind turbines. The installed solar trackers are designed to track the movement of the sun all through the day and generate around 15% more power than the single axis solar systems. Mt. Cattlin happened to be the first mine site in Australia to have a solar tracking system for its power production requirement. Swan Energy, a renewable energy systems providing company in Australia, has designed the solar panels and the wind turbine systems for the project.

Together the solar and the wind installations will generate around 226 MWh of clean energy every year to meet nearly one sixth of the total power requirements of the mine. The mine currently utilizes a 5 MW diesel generator to meet its power requirements.
