DTE Energy Initiates RFP to Identify Solar Panel Suppliers

DTE Energy has started a Request for Proposal (RFP) to recognize eligible solar photovoltaic (PV) panel suppliers to supply solar panels and logistics for the solar energy installations of the company.

The company has planned to mount PV systems throughout the service area locations of the company during 2014. DTE Energy will possess and operate the solar energy systems that will be installed on grounds or rooftops of commercial and industrial consumers, or at the company’s locations. Totally three megawatts of solar panels will be required this year and up to 12 MW would be fixed by 2014.

DTE Energy is searching for manufacturers or suppliers with excellent qualifications and established PV module technology installed in the U.S.

DTE Energy will receive electricity generated from the planned solar installations to reach the new Renewable Portfolio Standard of Michigan. There is a possibility of making Southeastern Michigan more self-contained. Due to comprehensive energy legislation approved in 2008, it is possible to move to solar and wind energy.
