Dresser-Rand Group declared that it has obtained an order from Diamond Green Diesel, a joint venture company of Valero Energy, to provide the vital equipment for a new unit that will manufacture renewable diesel fuel.
Dresser-Rand will provide the important rotating equipment for the project, which includes a DATUM centrifugal compressor, two reciprocating compressors and related controls system
The project proposes to utilize an inventive hydro-processing method introduced by Honeywell UOP branded as the UOP/Eni Ecofining process to convert recycled cooking oils, cast-off animal fats and other feedstocks into quality green diesel. The project once implemented will become the first of its kind project type in the USA. Continuous feedstock supply required for the project will be arranged by Darling International, the other partner of this joint venture and a provider of recovery and recycling solutions to the food industry of the USA.
The new proposed plant will be placed in Norco, LA, close to the St. Charles refinery site of Valero. The proposed plant is anticipated to manufacture around 137 million gallons of renewable diesel also known as second generation fuel every year.
