GT Solar International, a supplier of sapphire and silicon crystalline growth systems, polysilicon production expertise and other materials for LED, solar and other diverse markets, declared that it has obtained an order worth $218.9 for the supply of advanced sapphire crystallization furnaces to Guizhou Haotian Optoelectronics Technology (HTOT).
The order while keeping GT Solar’s market impetus for its advanced sapphire furnace based sapphire crystalline growth technology also will set the entry of HTOT into the aggressive LED segment.
According to Mr. Hao Xu, Guizhou Industrial Investment Group’s chairman of the board, the entry of the company into LED markets opens up strategical expansion prospects for the company in Guiyang City and in the Guizhou region of China. He maintained that the new sapphire manufacturing facility while establishing HTOT as leading material provider to the LED industry also will increase the economic growth in the region. He explained that HTOT has chosen GT Solar as its technology partner after understanding its proven track record, advanced technology and years of exposure in providing high volume and cheaper production facilities.
Tom Gutierrez, president and CEO of GT Solar, while pleased with the selection of the advanced sapphire crystallization furnaces by HTOT, said that while the technology provided by the company allows manufacture of quality materials, the worldwide installation and support provided by the company enables speedier, low-cost and high volume production.
