Independent Energy Solutions Completes Solar Installation for San Diego County’s Operations Center Parking Facility

Independent Energy Solutions (IES), solar energy developing and building company declared that it has completed the construction of a 358 kW solar PV shade structure installation for the San Diego County.

The solar system owned by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) is erected over a parking facility of the County’s new operations center parking facility. The installation while providing shade to the parked cars will also generate around 650,000 kW of renewable solar electricity every year. SDG&E has entered into a 10 year lease agreement for the solar facility over the parking lot. The company has financed the installation and supervised it.

The solar installation designed and constructed by IES includes 24 custom made steel shade covers, 1932 solar modules produced by Kyocera, a tailor-made racking system and an inverter. The power generated from the facility is enough to supplement the power requirements of 107 normal single family houses in San Diego County. The clean energy power generation facility will counterbalance the generation of 376 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, which can be equated to removing the required number of cars from running and covering one million miles.
