Caney River Wind Farm Project Operational in United States

Enel Green is one of the leading wind power generating companies in the United States, accounting for 986 MW of power in the region. By using wind energy for power generation, Enel Green has helped in bringing down the emission of carbon-di-oxide into the atmosphere significantly.

The recently installed wind farm by the Caney River is of 200 MW installed capacity, capable of fulfilling the power needs of 70,000 American households.

The Caney River wind farm consists of 111 V-90 wind turbines of 1.8 MW individual power capacities and the combined installed capacity of the farm is 200 MW. The amount invested in the farm installation was $350 million and is capable of power generation of the scale of 765 million kWh every year. The power generated at the wind farm will serve as many as 70,000 American households and reduces the atmospheric emission of CO2 by 580,000 t. The wind farm was developed by EGP-NA’s partner TradeWind Energy. The revenue from the Caney Wind River project will partly fund the project that aims at protecting the tall grass prairie in Kansas. The Tall grass Prairie Habitat is spread over 18,000 ha and the project aims at conserving the habitat and also for conducting research on the wind patterns of the eco-system.
