AVILOO Launches Complimentary Warranty Protection Based on Independent Battery Diagnostics

With the new AVILOO Battery Warranty, AVILOO opens an entirely new chapter in the valuation and protection of used electric vehicles. For the first time, a fully independent battery diagnosis is being developed into a genuine, financially backed purchase warranty. This transforms what has often been a critical uncertainty factor – the battery – into a reliable selling point for both dealers and buyers. "The AVILOO Battery Warranty raises the used electric vehicle market to a new level, says AVILOO CEO Marcus Berger, who adds: "For the first time, we are providing the foundation for a warranty based solely on objective, independent measurement data. This builds trust and makes risks calculable."

Projected SoH Development

The Battery Warranty forms the centerpiece of AVILOO Connect, the new digital area for professional EV remarketing. There, dealers, sales platforms, fleet operators, and wholesalers can – for the first time – oversee the entire lifecycle of a battery test, from incoming data through to the issuance of a warranty. The warranty itself builds on the established AVILOO FLASH Test, the only independent EV battery quick test on the market, which was elevated to a new level just last year with the new independent battery certificate and the AVILOO Certified seal. However, it is issued as its own official document and remains clearly separate from the independent certificate. While the certificate describes the current condition of the battery, the Battery Warranty additionally provides failure protection against potential defects, significantly reducing the risk for buyers. This makes it an entirely new instrument in the used market for electric vehicles.

Data-Based Calculation – Clear Financial Framework

The protection follows a transparent, data-based approach: for each vehicle, an individual SoH limit is calculated that must not be undercut at a mileage of 20,000 kilometers during the one-year warranty period. The basis for this is the world's largest battery diagnostics database, which AVILOO has built up over the past several years. Within the one-year warranty period, buyers have time to carry out a FLASH Test. Should the battery fall below the calculated limit during the warranty period, they will receive 3,000 euros in compensation as well as a refund of the FLASH Test costs. With this, AVILOO is establishing – for the first time – a clear financial framework that significantly simplifies the decision to purchase a used electric vehicle. For the Battery Warranty, AVILOO is partnering with the Swiss insurance company Swiss Re, which acts as reinsurer.

The first phase of the rollout starts on June 1 in France and Sweden, with additional countries to follow in the coming months: in August, the Battery Warranty will also launch in the United Kingdom, the DACH region, the Netherlands, and Belgium, before the product is rolled out Europe-wide. This is a step that further strengthens AVILOO's position as the world's leading provider of independent battery diagnostics in Europe.

Closing a Central Trust Gap

With the Battery Warranty, AVILOO closes a central trust gap in the rapidly growing market for used electric vehicles. While the technical condition of a battery has previously been difficult to assess, the combination of diagnosis and prognosis now creates a level of clarity that was previously unattainable. Dealers can give their customers a reliable performance commitment without having to take on risks themselves. Buyers, in turn, receive a transparent protection mechanism that makes the most important – and most expensive – component of an electric vehicle plannable. "With the Battery Warranty, we are setting a new industry standard", says Berger. "It provides orientation for all market participants, strengthens the decision in favor of electric mobility, and ensures that used EVs are perceived not as a risk, but as a sustainable and trustworthy option for the future."
