Canadian Solar Installs Ontario's First 250 kW Photovoltaic Rooftop System

Canadian Solar announced that its subsidiary, Canadian Solutions, in collaboration with Aecon and Towcon Holdings is completing the installation of a 250-kW photovoltaic rooftop system in Ontario, a first in this province. Canadian Solar provides turnkey solar solutions to commercial, solar farm, and residential markets.

This rooftop installation comprises 1,326 solar panels from Canadian Solar, which spread on an area of about 74,668 square feet. The solar system, which is owned by President of Towcon Holdings, Dave Walden, is capable of generating 305 kW DC.

Dave Walden noted that the installation team has followed all the due diligence guidelines required for the installation. Walden said that the company is proud to associate with Canadian Solar Solutions for this rooftop solar project, which will help to augment the solar power generation in Ontario as well as benefit the community financially.

Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar, Shawn Qu, said the company, since 2002, has been operating in more than 30 countries throughout the world, including the United States, Korea, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Japan, and Canada. The company is pleased to complete Ontario’s first 250 kW PV rooftop system, since Ontario is home to the company and its corporate office.

Rob Kinnaird, Director, Business Development, Aecon, said the new Green Energy Act is making Ontario a good place for contractors and solar projects such as this rooftop installation is consistent with Aecon's commitment to being “green.” Kinnaird added that the company is delighted to partner with Canadian Solar for this installation and hopes this partnership will extend to other projects in the future.
